Tips To Landing Collaborations

Hi Ladies, This has been a highly requested blog post, and I’m really excited to share my tips with you guys! Now, I just wanted to start out by saying that I’m not an expert BUT throughout the years, I have learned a few things along the way. A year ago, I purchased the Pitch It Perfect Program because I wanted to get better at pitching myself to brands. It’s been extremely useful and it’s given me a foundation on how to represent myself. I made the investment because I was tired of not having success when it came to landing collaborations. I use to get hurt and bothered when brands would say NO to me but I’ve learned that it’s okay and here’s why! You need to be consistent, persistent and have offer brands your unique take on things. No’s have allowed me to ask myself: What can I do better? How can I improve my pitch!? There’s nothing wrong with going back to the drawing board and learning from each conversation….because they will …

FroYo Fruit Bites – Summer Treats

Happy Tuesday, Today’s blog post is a simple one! These froyo fruit bites will have you wanting more all summer long. Here’s what you’ll need: PREP: 1. Muffin & pastry pan 2. Cup liners 3. Fruit (your favorite summer fruit ) 4. 2 1/2 Greek Yogurt (your favorite yogurt ) 5. 2 cups Granola 6. 4 tablespoons Honey 7. 4 tablespoons Peanut Butter Directions: Place cup liners inside pan and use cooking spray so ingredients won’t stick. Next, grab a bowl and mix the granola, peanut butter and honey together. Use a spoon to scoop the mixture and place inside the cup liners. Once the base is filled with the granola mixture, use a clean spoon to fill half of the liner with your choice of yogurt. After, dice up fruit into small pieces and lay on top of yogurt. Place in freezer for 30 mins before serving. Easy as that! Let me know what you guys think 😉 Enjoy -Dawn

The Secret is Out | My South Beach Journey

The secret is out, and it feels so good to finally open up and share my weight-loss story with you all!!! About a year ago a long time friend of mine mentioned a great opportunity that might be of interest to me. The agency she was working for was looking for candidates for an upcoming weight-loss program. She recommended that I submit my story and photos to the agency as soon as possible due to the amount of interest these types weight loss programs generate. I quickly gathered some pictures and composed the letter that would change my life forever!  Five days after submitting my story, I received an email from Paige (agent) telling me that I had been pre-selected for the program- YAY! She then scheduled an interview – more like an audition – where the agent asked a number of questions while being recorded on camera- yikes! I’d be lying if I said, I wasn’t nervous. When the day to interview finally arrived, I remembered being excited yet nervous while on the drive. …

3 ways to Kick your New Year’s Resolutions into High Gear!

It’s the New Year which means new goals, hopes, and dreams. I hope that by this time you’ve already been working some of them.! If not there’s no need to panic there’s still plenty of time to get back on track. Today, I wanted to share three easy ways to help kick your New Year’s Resolutions into high gear. Let’s get started. 1. Set goals that are simple and realistic! How many times have we set high expectations and goals for ourselves and fail to follow through or lose motivation? The answer is probably….. always ! It’s great to have high expectations but take each goal one step at a time. For example, one of my personal goals this year is to read one book per month. I set a ” realistic ” goal because I knew if I said I wanted to read two books each month, it probably wouldn’t happen.. and this is just me being honest with myself. Instead, I set a goal (aka, a simple goal) that I knew I could …

6 Personal Questions with Matt | Relationships

For the longest time, people have requested from me to start sharing more of my relationship with Matt on my blog. We’ll be celebrating 6 years this July, so what better way than to ask him “6 personal questions.” So…. without further ado, here’s Matt’s FIRST guest blog post. Let’s do this. What’s the most annoying thing about Dawn? 1) That’s a hard question…there’s so many that come to mind! Just playing:) Its not so much annoying as it is a pet- peeve but Dawn drives like a maniac and plays her techno music really loud! She also never returns things, I cant tell you how many times I’ve thought I lost something only to find it like a month later in her car. Who were you pre-Matt and Dawn? 2) I was a dude, playing a dude, disguised as another dude! (Tropic Thunder reference for you guys.) Umm I’d have to say that in many ways I haven’t changed much. My core values, beliefs and respect for everyone has been very consistent. If anything …

My Top Editing Applications

In a world ruled by social media, it’s important to evolve with current trends and changes in algorithms. Companies and even bloggers rely on their platforms to represent who they are as individuals and as businesses. I believe that having the right filters, content, consistency, and theme for your Instagram is critical to get noticed. For the longest time, I researched for different ways to step up my Instagram game up a notch. I’ve also become more selective when it comes to my pictures. Why is this important? Think about what impressions you get when you visit your favorite store. Is it tidy and clean? Is it messy? How are your favorite products being displayed? Are they visually appealing? The same thing is applied online. Since people can’t physically see the item, it’s important to capture their attention with stunning pictures and creative content. If you are looking to switch things up on Instagram, then you’ve come to the right place. The first question you need to ask yourself is, what type of theme am …

How I Got Rhabdomyolysis

On May 29th, my boyfriend, his dad, and a few close friends decided we would do a workout at Crossfit Studio City. The WOD (Work Out of the Day) was dedicated to Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005. In remembrance of Lieutenant Murphy, the Crossfit community gets together every Memorial Day and completes one of the toughest workouts, known as, Murph. Murph 1 mile run 100 pulls ups 200 push-ups 300 air squats 1 mile run Post Murph: Tuesday morning, I woke up feeling a little sore but nothing out of the ordinary. I had done Murph three times in my life, so I knew it was common to feel some soreness after an intense workout. It wasn’t until Wednesday and Thursday when I noticed I wasn’t getting better and was beginning to feel sorer as the days progressed. I couldn’t sleep, and I was frustrated that I couldn’t bend my arms or even get myself dressed–Yes, it hurt that much! Matthew and I, even …

How to Travel on a Budget

My urge to travel began in 2014 when I was scrolling through my friends Instagram feed and saw her adventures in Italy. I remember sitting down and saying to myself, ” I wish I could travel to Paris.” Just saying it out loud made me realize how foolish that sounded. I realized I was restricting myself from seeing the world because I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to afford it. After thinking about it all day and speaking to my boyfriend about it, we decided that it was time to take that next step and figure it out along the way. A few months later, our plans to travel the world were coming true. I’ll be honest, we didn’t know how to prepare for a trip, and we weren’t expecting our tickets to be worth $1700 each! With only six months before our trip, we could not find anything cheaper, so we settled and went for it. We were fortunate enough to have a friend that lived out in Paris, which eliminated the hotel …
